experiments for kids

An easy and funny experiment for kids to get an egg into a bottle through the neck. The law of physics that we will use for this experiment is the expansion and contraction of air.

Funny experiments for kids equipment:

  • A glass bottle (a milk or juice bottle)
  • An egg
  • A saucepan
  • A match
  • Paper
  • Water

Funny experiments for kids instructions:

  1. Boil the water in a saucepan. Add the egg and cook for 8 to 10 minutes.
  2. Get the hardboiled egg and peel the shell.
  3. With a match, light the paper and put it in the bottle.
  4. Place the egg on the opening of the bottle and observe. The egg is sucked into the bottle.

Funny experiments for kids explanation:

When placed inside the bottle, the ignited paper heats the air. Hot air takes up more space than cold air.

Once the paper burns up, the air inside the bottle cools and contracts. By contracting, the air takes up less space in the bottle and creates a vacuum. This vacuum sucks the egg inside the bottle.
